Videos are circulating of a man confessing to murdering a woman who allegedly ruined his relationship. While the videos have racked up lots of views on social media, no arrest has been made for the murder of Savanna Dyer. The 21-year-old victim was found dead along Carlsen Field Road in Trinidad.
Savanna, who lived in Diego Martin, was last seen alive last Friday night (June 13) in Barataria. She was hanging out with coworkers at Nari’s Bar. Before the night ended, she made and posted a video on her WhatsApp status. The footage captured her travelling in the back of a car. According to reports, she entered a black vehicle shortly after leaving the bar.
Early the following morning, her partially nude and lifeless body was discovered in the bushes by passersby. She had a visible wound on her head. Four days later, a video surfaced online of a man claiming responsibility for Savanna’s murder. In the recording, the man blames her for interfering in his relationship with another woman he seemingly identified as Tammy.
In one of the videos, he professed his love for Tammy and expressed his regret for hurting her. He wished her well in life and hinted that he would no longer be around.
“This is a confession video; this is me saying I did kill Savanna Dyer,” he said in another video. “The reason behind it was Tammy told me everything, and everything boils back to Savanna mashing up my relationship, and once my relationship is mash up, my life is gone.” He reiterated that he intended to end his life.
The video has gained traction on social media. Additionally, reports revealed that the man, identified as Sheldon Wells, was arrested for murdering Dyer, but police believe another individual was involved and are actively searching for the suspect. Wells, a resident of Quarry Street, was taken into custody on Monday night when police went to his house.
Despite the graphic confession, Savanna’s family is urging patience and caution. Her mother acknowledged seeing the video and expressed hope that the police were making progress. However, she emphasised that an arrest does not guarantee a conviction.
“The police need to get all the evidence they could find,” she said. “So I understand, and I don’t want to rush them.” She added that while it is an incredibly difficult time for the family, their focus remains on getting justice the right way. “We want justice for Savanna. So I have to give them time to do their job.”
As the investigation continues, the family must also wait to lay Savanna to rest, as an autopsy is pending to determine her cause of death.
