Men’s final: Millau – Sévérac: 3-2
Millau, which has mixed its two championship teams (Larzac and Lévézou) by bringing together its best players for the Departmental Cup, has taken on the costume of even stronger favorite following its victory at Vallon, which will win the championship this season.
The status was not easy to bear, especially against a team from Sévérac who were really pushed by their public who came in large numbers to encourage their team. It is therefore in a fire atmosphere that the Millavois suffered several storms with Sévéragais who had nothing to lose and played the blow thoroughly.
The start of the match was to the advantage of the locals who ignited the gymnasium, but with their experience, the Millavois, calm and serene, played fair and took advantage of Sévérac’s clumsiness to win the first set 25-17.
The players of the Castle then recovered to return to equality by winning the second set 17-25. Millau with its wide workforce corrected the situation and put the head of the Sévéragais under water by correcting them 25-12.
The Millavois then thought they had done the hardest part and continued with a very good start to the fourth set, but in an atmosphere of madness, where each team was pushed to its limits and carried by its supporters, the end of the set was an anthology and despite a match point Millau lost the set 27-29.
The final was going to be played in the decisive game and the Millavois, who were able to rotate their workforce, were more in their legs than the Sévéragais who had given a lot and were starting to pay for it physically. Millau won the tie-break 15 to 9 and the 2023 Ufolep Departmental Cup. The Millavois keep their trophy after a very good match and congratulations to Sévérac because to have a good final you need two good opponents.
