A Walmart employee was punched to the ground during a dispute with a customer. Footage of the heated altercation at the Nolensville Pike location in Nashville has gone viral, drawing widespread attention on social media. The video was shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday with limited information regarding the circumstances of the incident.
According to the post, the dispute reportedly began when the Walmart employee accused the male customer of not properly scanning items at the self-checkout station. The identities of the employee and the customer are currently unclear. Although the video lacks clear timestamps, it shows the pair engaged in a heated argument at the checkout area.
They can be seen yelling in each other’s faces while the employee threatens to retaliate if the customer hits him again. The customer tries to push the employee away, but the employee continues to close in on him, getting in the customer’s face and bracing himself on the customer.
The customer is also seen checking out his items during the dispute. Seconds later, the customer is heard demanding the return of his change, using expletives. The employee refuses, causing tensions to escalate. Then the worker grabs the customer, and though it is unclear in the footage, the information in the post, along with another report, suggests the employee attempted to choke the customer by putting him in a chokehold.
The customer retaliated by punching the employee and knocking him to the ground. Another Walmart staff member quickly intervened to de-escalate the situation. The enraged customer continues to demand his change, but the employee, still on the ground, insists he does not have it.
The person filming, apparently a female associate of the customer, claims that the employee is withholding his change and says she caught it on camera. Shortly after, the clip cuts to the customer with an amused expression while the employee converses with a colleague about the situation.

A post was allegedly made by the customer on social media following the altercation. In the post, he claims that after the attempted chokehold, the employee called the police. However, Walmart reportedly terminated the employee after reviewing the incident.
