A violent fight inside a Walmart in Indianapolis has left an employee battered after being ambushed by a group of women and a man during her shift on Friday. Footage of the incident has been widely circulated online, showing Tikerra Hicks on the receiving end of a coordinated assault near the checkout counters.
In the clip, multiple women strike her while shouting accusations. One of the attackers asks Hicks about the whereabouts of a man. During the ordeal, Hicks is pinned to the ground by one individual while the others physically assault her.
A man is also seen kicking her as she tries to shield herself. The chilling moment unfolded in front of stunned bystanders, some of whom attempted to intervene. According to reports, Hicks’ coworker pulled her away from the group, but a woman in the mob hurled an item and snatched the Walmart employee’s hair, prompting another physical altercation.
The chaos finally ended when more staff joined in, restraining attackers and restoring order. After the footage, filmed by shopper Kind Butler, surfaced online, Hicks spoke to FOX 59, indicating that she was targeted because of false rumours tying her to a rape investigation.
She told police that she had been receiving phone calls about a friend of hers raping someone, but she insists that she has no connection to the case and never tried to protect or defend the accused, so she was confused as to why she was targeted.
According to a report, Hicks explained that she was blindsided while returning from the restroom. Hicks told the media, “I just hear, ‘There she goes,’ and then boom, on the side of my head I feel somebody hitting me.” Witness Mr Butler, a frequent shopper at that Walmart outlet, said the “whole family came over and started beating” Hicks as soon as they saw her.
According to Butler, he caught part of a conversation where relatives of an alleged victim were searching for a person they suspected had ties to the case. Beech Grove Police documents reportedly list Hicks as an “other person” in a rape investigation, but she maintains the claims are baseless.
She told the outlet she only spoke with investigators after the fight and played no role in the alleged assault. Hicks also told the media that Walmart suspended her after the melee inside the store. The company has not confirmed her employment status but described the violence as “unacceptable”, praising police for their quick action. No arrests have been made so far, though footage shows at least four individuals taking part in the attack.
