One of the viral Jamaican conjoined twins, Azora Elson, has passed in Saudi Arabia months after undergoing a high-risk separation procedure. Her mother confirmed the devastating news, and the footage of her final moments was shared online, allegedly by the family.
The video, which is 40 seconds long, shows her at the King Salman Humnitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief), where medical personnel are attending to her. Moments later, she takes her last breath and her eyes close.
Azora and her sister, Azaria, were born physically connected, sharing vital areas of their bodies.

Their case required medical intervention beyond what was available locally, and the twins were transferred to Saudi Arabia under a specialised humanitarian programme. Once at the King Salman Humnitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief), a large medical team carried out the separation surgery.
According to reports, the road to recovery was different for each twin. Azaria gradually stabilised and showed encouraging signs of progress, but Azora remained in critical condition. Doctors had long been monitoring complications with her heart, a condition that became increasingly difficult to manage after the separation.
Reports say their mother was made aware of such a risk before the separation surgery.

Medical teams had to work around the clock to support her, using advanced care to keep her stable. However, her heart function continued to decline, prompting discussions among specialists about more drastic intervention.

A transplant was identified as the only long-term solution, but it came with major challenges. Finding a donor organ suitable for a child of her size proved unlikely, and strict medical criteria further limited the possibility. Even with expert input, the option remained out of reach.
Those close to the situation understood early on that her condition carried significant risks, but there had still been hope that she would pull through.
