A Wingstop employee was injured when a man opened fire inside the fast food restaurant after he was apparently urged not to smoke inside. The man had entered the establishment on the 7600 block of City Avenue in Philadelphia with an associate around 5:20 p.m. last Sunday.
He had marijuana in his possession and stood in the dining area near the staff when the altercation kicked off. Footage shows the unidentified man smoking when staff addressed him, leading to an argument over the use of marijuana inside.
The surveillance video shows both men arguing at the cashier, and one throwing a bottle in frustration as he and his companion leave. The shooter can be seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with a “Clock” logo, black and white Jordan sneakers, and a black ball cap with a “K” emblem. His shoulder-length braids were visible even under the cap.
The second man, who left the restaurant alongside the shooter, was dressed in a black and blue hooded sweatshirt emblazoned with “AMIRI” across the chest and back, along with white sneakers. Like his companion, he wore his hair in shoulder-length braids.
The worker appears to throw something back at the suspect when he made his way out of the restaurant. Then, without warning, the suspect turned back, pulled out a gun, and fired a shot into the kitchen. The bullet grazed a 43-year-old female worker, leaving her injured.
Inspector Michael Gormley of the Philadelphia Police Department later said the wound was not considered serious, and the woman declined hospitalisation.
After the shot was fired, the video shows both men leaving quickly and heading for a white sedan waiting nearby. Investigators believe the car was a late-model Volvo S60. The clip ends with the suspects driving away.
Police say while some members of the group linked to the altercation were stopped not far from the restaurant, the shooter and his immediate accomplice remain at large.
