Social media users expressed concern for TikTok personality Yankee when he appeared visibly emotional after the explicit video of him was leaked online, allegedly by his ex-girlfriend Annie. Yankee trended on Thursday when thousands of viewers tuned in to the bisexual allegations Annie was spreading online, connected to the footage.
Following the exposure, Yankee was distressed and in tears. Later, his aunt chimed in, defending him and revealing that she had secured an attorney to take legal action. The aunt, identified as Lady Gabba, pleaded with him to report the matter to the police as a case of revenge pornography, which could lead to Annie’s arrest.
She insisted that Annie’s actions had crossed a line, echoing the sentiments of many online. Lady Gabba revealed that family members overseas, including Yankee’s grandmother in New Jersey, had also seen the circulating video and were struggling to cope with the situation. According to Yankee, Annie lied about receiving the video from a man, whom she claimed sent it to her. He said the video was saved in his phone, and Annie found it when she searched his device while he was sleeping.
Lady Gabba noted that many people have faced similar acts of retaliations on the media that are unjust and stated that legal recourse could help deter such incidents in the future. She further indicated that she had already consulted legal representation and remained prepared to assist if he chose to proceed.
Yankee, however, appeared hesitant, although he eventually nodded when she asked if he would take legal action. He initially said he had no intention to involve the police despite the pressure from supporters. Beyond legal concerns, Yankee’s visible distress triggered messages about his well-being. Fans voiced fears about his safety, noting Jamaica’s historically tense social climate surrounding LGBTQ-related issues. Many argued that the viral exposure could potentially place the TikToker at risk.
His subdued demeanour continued throughout Thursday, even as he hesitantly revealed that Annie’s pregnancy may be fake and claimed she planned the engagement. He was in another live discussion with fellow creator Ivany Wright when he made the revelations.
He maintained that certain allegations circulating online were inaccurate, including suggestions that he had spoken negatively about Annie to others prior to the fallout. He also addressed speculation surrounding Annie’s reported pregnancy, stating that he was uncertain about the matter. He noted that she maintains she is pregnany but when they had disagreements, she told him she was not pregnant.
Additionally, Yankee reiterated earlier claims that their Valentine’s Day engagement was largely orchestrated by Annie. He said she had taken the lead in organising aspects of the proposal and paid for her own gifts because he had faced financial constraints.
