A bus driver was stabbed in the neck by a passenger wielding a screwdriver after a fare dispute turned into a violent altercation. The altercation caused chaos aboard a city bus in Monterrey, Mexico. According to reports, the incident took place at the bustling intersection of Juan Ignacio Ramón and Cuauhtémoc Avenues. It was caught on camera, and the video has been circulating on the internet.
Reports say the altercation began when a male passenger, believed to be in his 30s, attempted to pay his fare with a card that repeatedly failed. The driver, following company policy, refused to accept cash, a move that visibly enraged the passenger.
The issue became a dispute that escalated when the man reportedly pulled out a screwdriver and lunged at the driver, stabbing him in the arm. The released video shows the passenger and the driver fighting aboard the bus while panicked passengers watched from outside.
During the violent encounter, the passenger repeatedly rams the screwdriver into the bus driver’s arm until they separate. The driver attempts to kick him, and as soon as he gets close, the armed passenger continues with the stabbing motion. Passengers surrounding the vehicle can be heard screaming from outside as the injured driver struggles to maintain control.
When the fight led them close to the door, onlookers standing outside intervened by grabbing both men. They manage to haul the passenger outside of the bus, putting an end to the fight.
