Another video of a student being physically assaulted has gone viral. Unlike the earlier incidents in which the aggressors were also students, the individual striking the child in the latest footage is now a male adult on a bus.
Based on his attire, a grey jacket paired with a yellow shirt, the slim-built man appears to be a bus conductor. The students he is in an altercation with are two females attending Queen’s High School in St Andrew.
In the 10-second clip, one of the girls is seated next to a window, while the other stands closely behind her. The student seated appears to be the main victim, as the conductor, who has a black and white handkerchief tied around his head, can be seen striking her in the face. He is standing over her while he repeatedly hits her.
The main victim, who is of dark complexion and visibly smaller build than her alleged attacker, tries to keep her head lowered while defending herself. The student standing behind her also hits the conductor, who briefly swings at her before reverting his attention to the seated schoolgirl.
Meanwhile, the bus is filled with the shouting and cheers of other young passengers. Some can be heard encouraging the schoolgirls to “beat” the conductor.
Amid the shouts is an individual calling out to the conductor. Soon after, someone intervenes, pulling the conductor away from the students, and the video concludes. The individuals involved in the altercation have yet to be identified, and Queen’s High School has not yet addressed the matter. According to Nationwide News, the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s Communication Unit has confirmed that no one came forward to report the incident.
The video continues to add to the growing trend of physical assault incidents involving students. Just last week, another video of an altercation on a rural school bus began circulating, showing a group of female students hitting a schoolgirl who sustained injuries. She was treated, and the matter was reported to the police.
