A fiery altercation in Westmoreland has left one woman with severe burns, another hospitalised with stab wounds, and a third woman in police custody.
Reports say the burnt victim is currently fighting for her life in the hospital after she was attacked by another woman, who was later stabbed by a third female. The burnt woman was set ablaze on Thursday during a confrontation in the Withorn District.
Journalist Andre Williams reported that the altercation occurred between a businesswoman and a pump attendant at a gas station. Police reported that, during the encounter, one of the women allegedly threw gasoline on the other and ignited it. This resulted in the second woman suffering severe burns.
Emergency responders transported the injured woman to the hospital, where she remains in serious condition under medical care. According to Williams, the woman has burns covering 50 per cent of her body.
Authorities say the situation intensified shortly after the alleged attack when another woman stepped in. That individual reportedly stabbed the woman accused of setting the fire. The accused was also taken to the hospital for treatment and is currently receiving care under police guard.
Information emerging from TVJ News indicates that both injured women remain hospitalised. Police sources confirmed that the woman suspected of carrying out the stabbing has since been taken into custody pending further enquiries.
Footage of the woman after the attack has since surfaced, showing her walking towards a vehicle. The flames left her clothes burnt to shreds and her arms, chest, breasts, and feet covered in burns.
