Dancehall sensation Shenseea has achieved her first platinum certification in Europe for a single. Shenseea collaborated on the single “Honey Boy” with German producer Purple Disco Machine, Swedish singer Benjamin Ingrosso, and legendary bassist Nile Rodgers.
“Honey Boy” became a platinum-certified single last week when it surpassed 12 million streams. The song earned its certification by the Swedish Recording Industry Association, rightfully known as the Grammofonleverantorernas (GLF) in Sweden.
This track was released early this year on May 3. “Honey Boy” was produced by Sony Music Germany/RCA Records. The hit song is also included on Purple Disco Machine’s album Paradise.
The song has been a success on musical charts across the globe, peaking at #2 on the Sweden Hot 100 and charting in the top ten across Europe, including countries like Ukraine, Spain, Serbia, Slovakia, Russia, Poland, Norway, Moldova, Lithuania, Estonia, Finland, and Belarus. Additionally, the song has over 4 million views on YouTube.
“Honey Boy” was born while Benjamin Ingrosso enjoyed Stockholm’s vibrant nightlife. A nightclub beat and a disco track in a Chinese restaurant inspired him. The result is the single becoming a disco anthem with contributions from Purple Disco Machine, Shenseea, and Nile Rodgers’ live guitar riffs.
Shenseea’s vocals were praised by Purple Disco Machine, who expressed that her voice was the perfect addition to the song. He indicated her vocals complemented the track’s infectious disco and funk vibes.
Benjamin Ingrosso featured “Honey Boy” on his European tour, and he expressed that the reception was amazing, as it had the crowd dancing.
“Shenseea’s voice just fits the song perfectly and really complements Benjamin’s amazing vocal performance,” Purple Disco Machine stated.
