A chaotic scene inside a packed movie theatre has ignited racially charged criticism on the social media platform X after a video showing several Black women engaged in a physical altercation went viral. The incident, which user @White_Ghost187 posted yesterday, has already surpassed 200,000 views.
The footage shows a group of Black women in a heated physical altercation. The women pummel each other while several individuals wearing shirts labelled “police”, believed to be theatre security, struggled to break up the brawl. Amid the chaos, a few bystanders also attempted to calm the situation.
The theatre was crowded then, with numerous families and children visible in the video. Screams and shouting fill the clip, and the women continue yelling even as they are finally separated. Details about the location and exact time of the incident remain unknown. There is currently no confirmation of any arrests.
While the video drew curiosity from some viewers, it also attracted a wave of racist and inflammatory remarks in the comment section. Many users used the post as an opportunity to generalise and demean Black culture.
One user, @dead_che, wrote, “This is Black culture. I blame the Democrats and Black women.” Another @PaulieGMMA, sarcastically claimed, “This is a form of punishment in some areas of the world.”
Comments ranged from mocking remarks like “Let them fight” (@AviatorCream), to deeply offensive statements like “Ghetto nigs again” (@BzWax77), and “They escaped from their cages” (@GoyidCohen). Several users echoed sentiments calling for segregation or imprisonment.
Amid the barrage of insults, only a handful attempted to push back. User @BeetleW81 stated, “You know there is a rack of white ppl who act exactly like this so all this black bashing is hypocritical.”
Black people are frequently criticised when they are caught on camera fighting and behaving rowdy. Some people online have expressed concern about the disturbing tone of the reactions that these videos garner, indicating how viral content can be weaponised to fuel racial stereotypes and dehumanisation online.
