A Spanish Town man is accused of raping an intoxicated woman on Christmas Day, and multiple charges have now been laid against him by detectives from the St Catherine North Centre for the Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse (CISOCA).
The accused has been identified as 34-year-old construction worker Dave Dacres, otherwise called “Crawb Up,”. He is facing charges of rape, indecent assault, and assault occasioning bodily harm in connection with the alleged incident.
According to investigators, the matter unfolded late on December 25 at a house in the area of Lauriston. Police say that around 11 p.m., the woman became intoxicated and fell asleep. During that period, Dacres, also from Lauriston, allegedly sexually assaulted her. After the incident, the woman attempted to leave the premises, but she was confronted by Dacres. He reportedly had a pipe and used it to strike her on the back.
Despite the alleged attack, the woman reportedly managed to escape and sought help. She subsequently made a report to the police, triggering an investigation by CISOCA detectives.
Police later located Dacres and placed him under arrest. On December 30, he was formally questioned by the police in the presence of his attorney before being charged for the incident. Police have indicated that arrangements are now being made for his first court appearance.
The case is one of several recent sexual offence investigations currently being handled by the St Catherine North police division. In a separate incident in early September, a 27-year-old labourer from Ewarton was charged with multiple offences following allegations involving a seven-year-old girl in Linstead. After that rape incident, the child received support from the police Victim Support Unit and the Child Protection and Family Services Agency.
Additionally, in October, another St. Catherine man was remanded in custody after a court heard that he was experiencing a mental breakdown during alleged offences involving a minor. The accused is facing charges including forcible abduction and rape and remains before the court.
