A taxi operator has died following a violent altercation with another driver in Linstead, St Catherine, on Thursday, February 19, 2026. The deceased was reportedly stabbed by the next driver after a dispute over passengers escalated into a deadly fight.
Unofficial reports indicate that the confrontation unfolded at a taxi loading area where both men were attempting to secure passengers for apparently the same route. It is said that tensions developed when an argument broke out over the passengers, a common source of conflict among transport operators.
According to one individual’s accounts, the verbal dispute quickly intensified into a physical fight. During the struggle, one of the drivers was reportedly armed with a sharp object. The weapon was allegedly used to inflict stab wounds on the other operator.
Part of the altercation was captured on camera, showing the men wrestling on the ground. The footage shows a group of men gathered around the pair, with onlookers urging them to release each other and end the confrontation.

Eventually, one bystander managed to pull the men apart. The injured driver was seen walking away from the immediate area following the separation, while the other driver also stood and appeared to move off in the same general direction. An onlooker could be heard expressing that they initially assumed the pair were playing around and did not imagine it was a serious fight.
It remains unclear exactly when the injured operator sought medical attention. Moon 10 understands that he sustained at least one stab wound to the upper torso. He was later transported to the hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries.
The driver who allegedly carried out the stabbing reportedly fled the scene shortly after the incident. As of the latest information available, police have not confirmed any arrests in connection with the matter. Authorities have also not yet released the identities of the men involved.
