A motor vehicle crash in St Ann on Monday night has left one man dead after the vehicle he was driving burst into flames along the Pearly Beach roadway. The circumstances that led to the crash have not yet been officially released. However, the vehicle ended up in flames on the street. Two videos of the fiery scene have since surfaced online.
It is understood that the vehicle was engulfed in flames shortly after the crash, drawing the attention of passersby. By the time emergency personnel arrived, the blaze had already taken hold of the car, making it difficult to determine if anyone was inside.
A bystander who was at the scene and recording the aftermath was heard assisting responders by pointing out that oil had spilt across sections of the roadway from the wrecked vehicle.

During the response, a firefighter was heard asking the onlooker about the type of vehicle involved. The bystander identified it as a Nissan Tiida. When questioned about whether anyone remained inside the burning car, the individual indicated that the driver was the only one travelling in the vehicle, and he had already been removed from the scene.
According to the bystander, the driver had sustained severe injuries and was transported to the hospital by a passing motorist prior to the arrival of emergency teams. It is understood that the driver later succumbed to those injuries. No other occupants were reported to have been inside the vehicle at the time of the crash.
Firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze while police began preliminary checks in the area. The roadway was affected as responders managed both the fire and the reported oil spill.
Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the crash. Investigations are ongoing as officials work to piece together the events leading up to the fatal incident.
